Goals, Goals, Goals

Goals, Goals, Goals

When I'm talking to family on the phone, I often hear "Well, what are you planning on doing?" Mostly, I think they're talking about school and an eventual career, but it gets me thinking about other goals. I guess here would be a good place to lay out some of my goals. How about Education, Physical, and Motorcycle?

Education

I guess, for one, I'd like to finish college. Currently I'm at North Lake College, which is a community college in Irving, real close to our apartment. Last semester I took a government class, two history classes, and a math class. Right now I'm taking a speech class and an english class, and in two weeks I'll start another government class. In the fall, I'm going to take four online courses, so that I can stay home with Connor until after Christmas. Then, in January, I hope to transfer to UTA, that is, University of Texas at Arlington. There, I hope to get a Bachelor's Degree in History, or perhaps Political Science, I'm not exactly sure yet...

Physical

I know that I've never been the most physically able guy in the room, but for far too long, I haven't been living up to my potential. I need to change that. While I was on Active Duty, and even now in the Reserves, a PT Test was never enough motivation for me. I didn't care about the PT Test, didn't think it should matter so much, made excuses, and as such, didn't prepare for it and failed it alot.

The answer? Motivation! I need motivation! I think I found some. I have two Army buddies from that haven of bliss, 2-Panther, who got involved in some events I think I may like to try. I just need to be a bit better shape than I am now. Okay, a lot better shape!

One is the
Tough Mudder, and the other is the Spartan Race. These events look like a lot of fun! For those of you who cannot fathom how abusing yourself and risking injury for three to ten miles is fun, well, ask someone nearby who is or was in the military. There is something very, very awesome about pushing yourself until you can't take anymore, and then to just keep going. It's amazing. I have a lot of work to do, but I hope to be ready by January for all the races that come through Texas next year.

Motorcycle
For those of you who don't know, I've decided to sell the Concours. It's a great bike, but I honestly feel like it's too fast for me. I am not a track-day, road-ripping, twice the speed limit type of rider. I'd rather just cruise, you know. Be cool, take it easy. On that note, this is currently the wallpaper on my laptop, and what I think I want to save up for. A Heritage Classic. I love this color by the way. It's just so... classic...

History

History is made everyday.
At least, that's what the History Channel tells me. Despite that particular channel becoming more of a Reality-TV Channel, I love history. History calls to me in a way that other things don't. I feel I can act and decide more appropriately if I know the history of my situation, and try to understand it.

Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.
I love this quote. I think it's from a bumper sticker, that is where I saw it, at least. It's absolutely true. Motorcycling is my obsession, my release. Even after having wrecked a bike, I cannot stay away. I can't explain it to those who don't already know, so I won't try.

See you later, crocodile!
Logan has been saying this to me recently when I leave the house. I usually just reply with "After a while, alligator!" It's just too ridiculously cute to correct him. He has been using more correct grammar and syntax lately, which is remarkable when you examine the quality of speech he is exposed to at home. :)

STEVE!
Kris and Logan and I drove down to Lufkin to see a family friend. This was about two weeks ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and seeing Steve. My left knee (the one that got bashed into the wall) did not, however, like the five hour trip there and back. It's been two weeks since then and my knee is still bugging me just a bit.
